Clippings – August 31, 2009 Library News King County Library System (KCLS) negotiates with Duvall Church on library site. The property KCLS owns, bought in 2006, is on hold while negotiations continue with the church. (Valley View [Woodinville], 8.10.09) La Conner Regional Library has entered into a reciprocal borrowing agreement with Anacortes Public Library. “This is a way to give our taxpayers more resources for their tax dollars and reward them for supporting libraries,” says Joy Neal, Library Director.

Clippings – August 17, 2009 Library News The Cashmere School District is set to recommend replacing longtime Vale (Elementary School )Librarian Barbara DeRubertis with two first-timers: Steffanie Haney and Wendy Crossland. Haney is a substitute teacher in the district and Crossland just finished her student-teaching. Neither of them has ever worked as a librarian before. The recommendations states the job will be on an interim basis for one year, after which a permanent position will be posted.

Clippings – August 10, 2009 Library News Volunteers at the Rainier Area Building Community are one step closer to turning the historic school house in Rainier into a true community center as the library space undergoes transformation. Volunteers will open the library with funds from a grant they received last year. (Photo) (Nisqually Valley News [Yelm], 7.17.09) Timberland Regional Library (TRL) has positioned itself well fiscally for 2010 after instituting hiring freezes and reducing the use of substitutes and the hours of operation.
