Secretary of State Steve Hobbs encourages Washington colleges and universities to go ALL IN on voting

OLYMPIA — Secretary of State Steve Hobbs today launched the 2022 Washington Campus Voting Challenge for colleges and universities statewide.

The Washington Campus Voting Challenge, part of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, is a nonpartisan competition among higher-education institutions to increase voter participation and encourage colleges and universities to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship.

New state budget paves the way for more secure elections and robust voter education

Funding enables the Office of the Secretary of State to strengthen election security, fight election disinformation, enhance voter education, and preserve vital state records and archives

OLYMPIA — The 2022 state budget, awaiting Governor Inslee’s signature, enables the Office of the Secretary of State (OSOS) to strengthen election security, counter misleading and harmful election disinformation, and enhance voter education.

Ballots are on the way for the Aug. 3 Primary Election

OLYMPIA — Registered voters across Washington will soon receive ballots for the upcoming Primary Election, Tuesday, Aug. 3.

The Primary Election’s 18-day voting period begins Friday, July 16, and lasts through election day. Ballots include a prepaid-postage return envelope, so people who return their ballots via U.S. mail do not have to pay for a stamp. Voters who place their ballots in an official drop box must do so by 8 p.m. on election day. Drop box locations may be found at VoteWA.gov.

Running for public office? Candidate Filing Week is May 17-21

OLYMPIA — Candidate Filing Week is May 17-21, and the Office of the Secretary of State is joining county election offices across Washington to accept applications for public office.

People interested in running for a local or county office may file with the county elections office in which the position resides. For filing instructions, candidates should contact their respective county elections office.
