As of July 1, 2025, the library building is open by appointment only and phones go to voicemail due to loss of funding. Services continue as usual. To request an appointment, call 800-542-0866 or email [email protected].

Patron Computer Lab

The Jan Walsh Patron Computer Lab is open to all patrons of WTBBL Monday through Friday, 8:30am- 4:50pm. We provide free wireless internet access (Wi-Fi) to anyone with a Wi-Fi-enabled device throughout the library.

How to Use the Patron Computer Lab

  • You must be a current patron of the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library to use the Patron Computer Lab.
  • Computer use is limited to one hour at a time but may be extended depending on availability. 
  • The Patron Computer Lab is available for reservations and walk-up at a first-come, first-serve basis. Reserve the lab in advanced by calling the library at 206-615-0400 or e-mailing [email protected].

What's in the Patron Computer Lab?

The Patron Computer Lab features one Windows workstation equipped with a variety of assistive technology and adaptive equipment. The following is available to any patron using the lab:

  • Screen reading software (JAWS)
  • Screen enlarging software (ZoomText)
  • Perky Duck software, allows patrons to type in braille using a standard keyboard
  • Refreshable braille display
  • Braille embosser, allows patrons to print documents in braille
  • Inkjet printer, prints in black and white at 8.5”x11”
  • Large print keyboard
  • Access to BARD services
  • Internet access
  • Height-Adjustable desk
