The Washington State Library provides library services to many but not all people who are incarcerated and hospitalized in prisons and psychiatric hospitals in Washington. If you receive a request for information from someone in any of the following facilities, we ask that you forward the request to Russell Roe (contact information below).

Facilities with a Washington State Library Branch

  • Airway Heights Corrections Center (including IMU)—Airway Heights
  • Clallam Bay Corrections Center (including IMU)—Clallam Bay
  • Coyote Ridge Corrections Center—Connell
  • Eastern State Hospital—Medical Lake
  • Echo Glen Children's Center-Snoqualmie
  • Stafford Creek Corrections Center (including IMU)—Aberdeen
  • Twin Rivers Unit (including MCC-IMU)—Monroe
  • Washington Corrections Center—Shelton
  • Washington Corrections Center for Women (including IMU)—Gig Harbor
  • Western State Hospital—Lakewood
  • Washington State Penitentiary (including IMU) – South Complex
  • Washington State Penitentiary (including IMU)—West Complex

If you receive a request for information from someone in any of the following facilities, or any out of state facilities, it is up to each individual library to determine how to respond. We do recommend that you not provide personal addresses or phone numbers.
