Clippings – August 17, 2009 Library News The Cashmere School District is set to recommend replacing longtime Vale (Elementary School )Librarian Barbara DeRubertis with two first-timers: Steffanie Haney and Wendy Crossland. Haney is a substitute teacher in the district and Crossland just finished her student-teaching. Neither of them has ever worked as a librarian before. The recommendations states the job will be on an interim basis for one year, after which a permanent position will be posted.

Clippings – August 10, 2009 Library News Volunteers at the Rainier Area Building Community are one step closer to turning the historic school house in Rainier into a true community center as the library space undergoes transformation. Volunteers will open the library with funds from a grant they received last year. Reed also toured the Colville Public Library, a member of the Libraries of Stevens County. Reed stated “Our libraries are more important than ever. They are a community hub of information and a wealth of knowledge.
