As of July 1, 2025, the library building is open by appointment only and phones go to voicemail due to loss of funding. Services continue as usual. To request an appointment, call 800-542-0866 or email [email protected].

Getting Your Books

You can choose the specific books you’d like to read, or we can help you make those decisions. There are a number of ways to request or directly download books.

Let our system choose your books

This is a great service for patrons who enjoy reading books on cartridge with a digital talking book player. Many of our patrons read multiple books a week, and rather than having specific titles in mind, they enjoy reading most anything in their favorite genres and/or by specific authors. Our automated system adds books to cartridges based on the preferences you tell us.

Want to change your preferences? You can always call 800-542-0866 or email [email protected], Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, to update your preferences or add specific books to your list.

Choose your own books

If you know specific books that you want, there are several ways you can request them. Choose the method that’s easiest for you!

Download books directly from BARD

You can get audiobooks and ebraille books from the BARD website, the BARD Mobile app on your smart device, BARD Express, and via your Amazon Alexa smart speaker. Read our BARD help topics page to learn more.

Call us

You can call us at 800-542-0866 and speak to a Readers’ Advisor who can assist you with getting the titles you want. They are available Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.

Search WTBBL’s online catalog

You can search for books in WTBBL’s online catalog and add them to your “book basket,” and they will arrive in the mail. Large print books, print/braille books, and hard copy braille books can also be added to your book basket, and you will receive them in the mail. Visit the online catalog home page to learn more.

Email us

Send an email to [email protected] with the list of books you want, we’ll verify that we have them, and put them on your book list. More instructions about this are found under “What does the Email Basket button do?” on the online catalog home page.]

Search the National Library Services (NLS) online catalog

If you are a super-savvy searcher, then this might be the search method for you! The NLS online catalog contains all of the digital books produced by NLS and other network libraries—those currently available, those in the production process, and those that must be specially requested from other libraries.

Interlibrary Loans

A benefit of using this catalog is that it provides you with information on books from other libraries that can be interlibrary loaned (ILL) either physically or digitally to you. Look for "available through ILL" at the bottom of the book’s page. If you find books in this catalog that are only available via ILL, please call us for assistance at 800-542-0866, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.

Braille-on-Demand

Through NLS’s Braille-on-Demand program, WTBBL patrons can request up to five books a month in hard-copy braille to keep indefinitely for personal use. Choose from any of the tens of thousands of braille titles available on BARD. After you’ve found the titles you want, you can complete an NLS Braille-on-Demand Request Form or call WTBBL and we’ll assist you in completing the form.
