A collection of documents used by Sheriff William Billings on February 9, 1886, to swear in prominent citizens of Olympia to quell the Chinese riots, in which some townspeople set fire to Chinatown in order to run the Chinese out. The collection also contains a concise synopsis of the papers, as well as a letter of gratitude from the Sheriff's daughter, Blanche Billings Mahlberg.
