Dates and Deadlines

If you are registered to vote but miss the deadline to update your address, you can still vote. Contact your county elections department where you are currently registered to request a ballot.

Registrations and updates submitted after the deadline will take effect for the next election.

Special Election

January 16 Deadline for voter registration, address change and other updates
January 27 Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Deadline for ballots to be mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers. County Elections Departments may mail ballots before this date.
February 6 Deadline for new Washington State voter registration (in person only)
February 14 Special Election - Drop boxes close promptly at 8:00 p.m.
 

Special Election

March 27 Deadline for online voter registration, address change and other updates
April 7 Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Deadline for ballots to be mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers. County Elections Departments may mail ballots before this date.
April 17 Deadline for new Washington State voter registration (in person only)
April 25 Special Election - Drop boxes close promptly at 8:00 p.m.
 

Candidate Filing

May 15 First day to file a declaration of candidacy.
May 19 Last day to file a declaration of candidacy.
May 22 Final day to withdraw from the ballot.
May 26 Deadline for submission of Voters' Pamphlet statements and photographs.
 

Primary

July 3 Deadline for online voter registration, address change and other updates
July 14 Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Deadline for ballots to be mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers. County Elections Departments may mail ballots before this date.
July 24 Deadline for new Washington State voter registration (in person only)
August 1 Primary - Drop boxes close promptly at 8:00 p.m.
 

General Election

October 9 Deadline for online voter registration, address change and other updates
October 7-14 State Voters' Pamphlets are mailed to every household in Washington State
October 20 Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Deadline for ballots to be mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers. County Elections Departments may mail ballots before this date. Expect delivery of your ballot no later than October 25th.
October 30 Deadline for in-person new Washington State voter registration
November 7 General Election - Drop boxes close promptly at 8:00 p.m.
