Contact Info Requirements & Updates
Per WAC 434-112-040 and 434-112-045, rejection and filing confirmations will be sent only to the registered agent and return address emails. Email addresses are required in both the registered agent and principal office sections for all entities on file.
Effective January 20th, 2026, we will reject the following filings if they do not include email addresses in both sections as required by statute:
- Originations of any kind
- Annual reports
- Initial reports
- Amended annual reports
Exceptions: If a principal office address is not required in an origination (e.g., Articles of Incorporation per RCW 23B.02.030 and RCW 24.03A.100), no principal office email will be required.
Archived emails from previous filings will continue to be used for all notifications.
Updating your email, phone, or address

An email address is required for the Principal Office fields on all documents submitted to the Secretary of State.
If a filing is submitted without this requirement, it will be sent back for corrections.
Existing email addresses will be used for notifications unless replaced via a filing with this office. Archived emails from previous filings will continue to be used for all notifications.
Principal Office Requirements
Principal Office Requirement: (RCW 23.95.105 (28)
The Principal Office address must be the street address of the business. A PO BOX or PMB cannot be used for the physical address requirement but can be provided as an alternate mailing address. This address can be the same as the Registered Agent, or it can be a separate location where records are maintained.

- How do I update Principal Office contact information?

All domestic and foreign business entities may update their Principal Office contact information at any time. The two different ways of updating this information are as follows.
Within Annual Report Filing Window: File up to 180 days before the expiration date. Submit the Annual Report to meet this annual requirement and update this information. Filing early doesn’t change the expiration date and remains tied to the original formation month.
Outside Annual Report Filing Window: Outside of 180 days before the business' expiration date. Submit the Amended Annual Report to update this information. An Amended Annual Report is amending the previous annual report on record.

Registered Agent Requirements
Registered Agent Address Requirement: (RCW 23.95.400-.460)
This address must be a physical street address in the state of Washington where the Registered Agent is available for service of process, notice, or demand. PO Boxes, Private Mailbox, and virtual “real addresses” may not be used for the Registered Agent physical address. If necessary, you can add an alternate mailing address in Washington, but that is only in addition to the required physical address. More Registered Agent information can be found here.

- Address Requirement: The Registered Agent must maintain a physical address in Washington State (PO Boxes or PMBs are prohibited). If your business lacks a physical address in Washington State, you may hire a third-party business or an individual not associated with the business.
