Deception-Pass-Bridge-1950s

Anyone crossing the Deception Pass Bridge is treated to one the most scenic and stunning views in all of Washington. The area around the bridge also is pretty spectacular, as this 1950s photo shows. The shot looks to the west, with the northern tip of Whidbey Island appearing on the left side. The photo was taken on Fidalgo Island.

This photo is found in the Digital Archives’ State Library Photograph Collection, 1851-1990.

Deception Pass State Park is one of the most popular state parks in Washington, drawing 2 million visitors a year, according to this recent Seattle Times story. Many come there to camp, fish, explore tide pools or just enjoy the primo scenery.
