August P. Mardesich

August P. Mardesich: An Oral History is the story of an Everett fisherman and lawyer who was thrust by tragedy into the political arena and emerged as one of the most respected and influential state lawmakers during his twenty-eight year tenure in the state Legislature. Senator Mardesich was appointed to the state House of Representatives in 1950, after tragic fishing accident took the life of his brother Tony, a freshman House member elected in 1949. After serving the remainder of his brother's term, he decided to remain in politics and went on to be elected to serve six terms in the House and four terms in the Senate, serving as majority leader in both houses.
