The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library (WTBBL) offers services to Washington state residents unable to read standard print materials. Below is information on how to apply, eligibility criteria, and service costs.

Applications for Service

To apply for service, complete the application based on your status:

If you've received services from WTBBL or another National Library Service (NLS) library within the past five years, you may not need to complete a new application. Please contact WTBBL to reinstate your service by calling 800-542-0866 or email [email protected].

You can fill out the PDF, save it, and email it to [email protected] or mail to 2021 9th Ave, Seattle WA 98133 or fax it to 206-615-0437.

Eligibility Criteria

WTBBL services are available to Washington state residents unable to read standard print due to:

  • Legal blindness
  • Visual impairment
  • Physical disability that prevents the ability to turn pages or hold a book for extended periods
  • DeafBlindness
  • Reading disability

Please contact the library if you have any questions about meeting eligibility criteria. For residents outside Washington, similar services are provided by other NLS network libraries.

Cost

All services, including the mailing of books and equipment, are provided at no charge to WTBBL patrons (individuals and institutions). Library materials and operational support are funded through a combination of federal, state, and donor resources.
