SilverPlatter has over 250 databases covering a broad variety of topics. I have included Full Text databases and databases that have Full Text through SilverLinker. SilverLinker enables a library to link from our bibliographic databases to full image articles at the publisher site. ERIC, sponsored by the US Department of Education, is the premier national bibliographic database of education literature. ERIC consists of two files: Resources in Education, which covers the document literature, consisting of research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, and books, and Current Index to Journals in Education, which covers published journal literature from over 775 periodicals. The database also includes the full text of ERIC Digest Records.

Peterson's College Database contains over 3,600 profiles of accredited baccalaureate and associate degree-granting institutions in the United States and Canada. Each profile includes information about student enrollment, ethnic/geographic mix, SAT/ACT score ranges and admissions, expenses, financial aid, special programs, housing, athletics, and more.

 2. What are the hardware and software requirements for using all the features of the product?

The requirement for internet browser capability is Internet Explorer 4 or better and Netscape 4 or better or the equivalent to search WebSPIRS 4.0

WebSPIRS 3.1 is and alternative for older machines and browsers.

3. Is remote access included for the subscription price?  If there are additional charges or requirements in order to offer remote access, please describe.   What methods of remote access are supported?

For the Washington State Library there will be no charge for remote access. Remote users can log on to the library network and/or use a username and password directly to the SilverPlatter site.

4. Please discuss any methods or assistance you offer regarding remote access patron verification and authentication.

We can IP filter access from a proxy server and users logging in to the library network through a proxy will be recognized under the IP range that you give SilverPlatter.

If you do not have a proxy at your site, remote users can use a direct URL to SilverPlatter and login with a username and password.

5. What end user delivery options, such as printing, emailing or faxing results, are available beyond just viewing results on the computer monitor?

Printing, downloading and e-mailing all of the above

6. What customer training is provided, and at what cost?

We have quick reference printed material, user manuals, on-line user manuals for downloading and an online tutorial at: www.silverplatter.com/tutor 

7. What customer and technical support is provided, including hours of operation.

We provide statistics that are e-mailed on a monthly basis for usage.

The usage statistics include the database used, time, # of logins and # of records retrieved.

9. Describe your pricing structure or formula for the product. If there are additional costs for retrieving full text, describe the pricing for this service. 

For the most part, SilverPlatter pricing is based on simultaneous usage of the product. Another factor is a site and the site includes the entire campus, all buildings and remote access. Some databases use a model that is site and FTE combined for consortia.

10. What is the minimum participation level (however you care to define it) that would be needed to allow participating libraries to receive a discount? What is the minimum discount for a group buy? Please clarify how you would treat existing library customers with regard to a group buy.

2 sites would be enough to receive a discount. As more sites add on to the group, the discount will increase for each site. For the group buy an existing customer will be given a credit for their unused portion of the subscription.

11.  Please indicate whether libraries from Oregon, Idaho, Alaska and/or Hawaii would be eligible to participate in the group buying process.

Any site from any state can add on to the group purchase.
