Territorial Timeline

Territorial Legislature passed “An Act for the Better Preservation of the Records of the Supreme Court of Washington Territory"

By 1881, settlers recognized preserving vital records was critical. This act provided “That the sum of seventy-five dollars . . . is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Territorial Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purchase of suitable pigeon hole and book cases in which to keep the books and papers of the Supreme Court of Washington Territory.”
