Under the Electronic Authentication Act, repositories can be "recognized" by the Office of the Secretary of State. At this time, recognition of repositories is being done in connection with licensure as a certification authority.
The materials used to issue the license as a certification authority are reviewed in order to provide repository recognition. If a certification authority license applicant is also requesting recognition of their repository, they simply need to send a cover letter stating that fact. The applicant must also include a check for the appropriate recognition fee.
If an applicant would like to apply for recognition of their repository without being licensed as a certification authority, that is available. For more information the applicant should contact the electronic authentication program directly.
