NONPROFIT CORPORATIONS: August 9, 2022 - CCFS is being updated to reflect changes to nonprofit corporation laws under RCW 24.03A. Currently, all nonprofit filings will be completed by paper forms while we work to provide online filing options. We are processing documents in the order received and there will be delays. If your documents were recently submitted, please disregard any automated late notices while we work to get all records updated on the website. Paper documents must be received in our office before their due date; once they have been entered into the system the record will reflect accurately. If you have any questions concerning this matter please let us know by using one of the methods available on the Contact Us page.

CUSTOMER ALERT: Business Compliance Division Post Card

The Secretary of State’s Corporations and Charities Division is receiving calls and emails from customers regarding a postcard received in the mail from the following company:

Business Compliance Division, Spokane, WA 99201

The postcard looks like an official card, similar to those sent by our office to nonprofit corporations and limited partnerships (LPs). These Business Compliance Division postcards do not come from the Secretary of State, or any other government agency.

What You Should Do:

  • You should ask them what service are they providing.
  • What are they doing with your corporate and payment information.
  • DO NOT confuse these notices with the real annual report post cards sent by the Secretary of State, or letters sent by the Business Licensing Service.
  • Washington State’s annual report fee for profit corporations and LLCs is $71 when filed through the Business License Service.  Nonprofit corporations ($10) and LPs ($60) may file annual reports at the Secretary of State’s office . A Certificate of Existence (good standing) is $20 when ordered from the Secretary of State and may be ordered online.

As always, if you feel a fraud is taking place, you may contact the Office of the Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division.
