Annual Report Filing Changes
The Office of the Secretary of State (OSOS) launched our new filing system (CCFS) for registering and maintaining legal business entities in Washington on November 13th. While the OSOS had previously contracted with Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Services (BLS) to handle annual report filings for Corporations, LLCs, and MA Trusts, the OSOS’s new filing system allows us to resume these responsibilities in-house in the same place you create your business entity. Starting January 1, 2018, BLS will no longer be processing annual reports and legal entities must file all annual reports directly with the Secretary of State, Corporations and Charities Division.
The Department of Revenue - Business Licensing Service will continue to be the place for businesses to apply for and renew their State and City business licenses.
If you have questions regarding the new process, or how to navigate the new system please visit Contact Us for phone, live chat, and email resources.
Note: Business entities filing an annual report will no longer receive a Legal Entity Registration (LER) document as receipt of their filing. With the new features, you can view and print a filed copy of your annual report when proof of filing is needed.
Summary of changes:
- Annual report reminder and/or delinquent notices will now come from OSOS with instructions to visit the OSOS website

- Legal Entity Registrations will no longer be created or mailed
- Verification of filing is available real-time for viewing and printing from the OSOS website
