Tour of Washington State Archives Building

At this behind-the-scenes tour of the Washington State Archives, attendees will learn what happens to their agency’s records after they’ve been transferred to Washington State Archives. Tour guides will discuss how we at Washington State Archives preserve the historical records of the State, the many ways that the public can access our holdings, and the many services that we provide to state and local government agencies. Participants will also get to learn about the archival collections held at Washington State Archives, the building’s early life as a fallout shelter, and some of our most popular collection highlights, including Territorial Records, Governors Papers, property and land records, records of Washington’s first territorial penitentiary, and toxic substance clean-up files from Department of Ecology.
