Organizing the File Room Workshop

Many agencies keep too many records for longer than needed, making important information difficult and time-consuming to find. Getting records in order helps an agency to manage its information, limit risk and liability, and save staff time and resources. This hands-on workshop will cover the process of getting your agency’s paper records in order, from the pre-planning stage through the destruction/transfer stage. Attendees will develop a preliminary work plan for their organizing project and will practice assigning retention to records using real-life examples from their agency.

Enrollment limited to 20.  We ask that each participant bring a randomly selected box of records from their agency that they will use for practice exercises. You will be working with staff from other agencies, so please avoid bringing confidential records.
