Charity/nonprofit symposium June 2 in Tumwater
Issued: May 14, 2014
OLYMPIA...The Secretary of State's Corporations and Charities Division is sponsoring a charity and nonprofit educational symposium in Tumwater on Monday, June 2.
The event will be held at the Labor & Industries Building (7273 Linderson Way SW) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with lunch provided.
"Our educational symposiums are popular and well attended across the state," Charity and Nonprofit Education Coordinator Teresa Glidden said. "We are fortunate to have an IRS representative flying in to present at this event, so I expect it to fill fast and encourage people to not delay in registering."
Attendees will learn about the legal obligations and fiduciary duties of a nonprofit board, registration and renewal requirements, and Washington state tax requirements, as well as the IRS presentation on getting and maintaining tax exempt status.
There is a $10 per-person lunch charge to help defray the costs of the facility and catering. Registrants can pay online when they register by credit or debit card. Registration is limited and available online at www.sos.wa.gov/charities/training.
For more information about the event, contact Glidden at (360) 725-0373 or email@example.com.
