Nonprofit board workshop set for Oct. 24 in Port Angeles

OLYMPIA...The Secretary of State’s Corporations & Charities Division is sponsoring a nonprofit board service workshop in Port Angeles on Oct. 24.
The educational workshop, geared especially for nonprofit board members, is at the Red Lion Inn (221 N. Lincoln St.) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch provided.
The event features Liz Heath of Sound Nonprofits in Tacoma. Heath is a consultant, speaker and trainer. She has more than 35 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with special emphasis on nonprofit board governance.
Heath plans to cover these topics:
- What is governance?
- The law of nonprofit governance
- A traditional model of nonprofit governance
- Strategies for improving your board
- Assessing your board’s effectiveness
"The workshop will be interactive and, hopefully, will help nonprofit boards and their members better understand nonprofit board governance, as well as the Secretary of State’s role is in terms of registrations and renewals," said Teresa Glidden, charity and nonprofit education coordinator for the Corporations & Charities Division.
There is a $10 per-person charge to help defray the costs of the facility and catering. Registrants can pay online when they register by credit or debit card.
