State Capitol

Exhibits are located in the lobby of the Secretary of State’s office in the Legislative Building. Open Monday-Friday, closed on the weekends.

Directions

From I-5 Southbound:

Take "Exit 105 to State Capitol," keep left for Exit 105A, and continue for 0.6 miles. Merge with traffic on the left and continue in the left hand lane of 14th Ave SW through the roundabout (Jefferson St.) and under the tunnel 0.4 mi to Capitol Blvd. Continue across Capitol Blvd to the Capitol Building on Sid Snyder Ave SW (14th Ave becomes Sid Snyder Ave).

From I-5 Northbound:

Take Exit 105 and bear left for the State Capitol/City Center exit. Cross over Interstate 5 and keep in the left lane on 14th Ave SE. through the roundabout (Jefferson St) and under the tunnel 0.4 mi to Capitol Blvd. Continue across Capitol Blvd to the Capitol Building on Sid Snyder Ave SW (14th Ave becomes Sid Snyder Ave).

State Library

The State Library contains books, newspapers, magazines, maps, etc.

Hours:
12:00 Noon - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday (excluding state holidays)
Chat and email continue to be available from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

I-5 Southbound:

Take I-5 South, take Exit 101 (Tumwater Blvd.), go left and stay straight on Tumwater Blvd. to Capitol Blvd (2nd light). Turn left onto Capitol Blvd. The State Library is at the intersection of Capitol Blvd. and Israel Road. Visitor parking is available on the right side of the building.

I-5 Northbound:

Take I-5 North, take Exit 101 (Tumwater Blvd.), turn right on Tumwater Blvd. then proceed to Capitol Blvd (2nd light). Turn left onto Capitol Blvd. The State Library is at the intersection of Capitol Blvd. and Israel Road.

Parking: Visitor parking is available on the right side of the building.

Transit: There is a bus stop in the front of the building, on Capitol Blvd. For bus routes and schedules, see the Intercity Transit website at http://www.intercitytransit.com.


State Archives

The State Archives receives mostly unpublished material from individuals and state agencies.

I-5 Southbound:

From I-5 south take exit 105A; follow the "State Capitol" lane that parallels the freeway for 1/4 mile.At the second traffic light (Capitol Way, the first light after the tunnel), turn right. Turn right again at the next traffic light (11th Ave.). At the next traffic light (Washington St.), turn right once more. The Archives building is on the right side of Washington Street, just before the entrance to the Plaza Garage.

I-5 Northbound:

From I-5 north take exit 105; keep to the left; follow the "State Capitol" lane. At the second traffic light (Capitol Way, the first light after the tunnel), turn right. Turn right again at the next traffic light (11th Ave.). At the next traffic light (Washington St.), turn right once more. The Archives building is on the right side of Washington Street, just before the entrance to the Plaza Garage.

Parking: Three free parking spaces in front of the Archives building are available for Archives researchers only. Additional parking is available for a fee of $1.50 per hour on Level P1 of the Department of Natural Resources parking lot located across from the Archives building on Washington Street. Metered street parking is also available a few blocks to the north on Washington Street. Please note there is no visitor parking in the Plaza Garage.
