Legacy Project Staff

Trova Heffernan TROVA K. HEFFERNAN became director of The Legacy Project in 2009. She is the author of multiple books on history including Where the Salmon Run: The Life and Legacy of Billy Frank Jr., now in its third printing, and a series of historical exhibits. For the secretary of state, Heffernan oversaw public affairs during one of the closest governor's races in U.S. history. Heffernan, a former television journalist and a public speaker, is a graduate of Washington State University.

John Huges JOHN C. HUGHES, an award-winning reporter, editor and publisher, became chief historian for The Legacy Project in 2008. He is a trustee of the Washington State Historical Society and has contributed to several Northwest history books, including "On The Harbor: From Black Friday to Nirvana."

Lori Larson LORI A. LARSON, coordinator of The Legacy Project, has a degree in history from The Evergreen State College. Before joining The Project in 2008, she worked for the Legislative Oral History Program. She has been with the Office of the Secretary of State since 2001.
