As I talk to our neighbors, I hear the same message: we need leaders in Olympia who set aside partisan politics and share our Spokane values of fair play, hard work, and strong families.

I agree. I was raised with those values, and they have shaped my career.

For 30 years I served as a teacher, administrator, and Executive Director in our Spokane Schools.

I’ve worked with thousands of kids and families—making a difference and helping prepare kids for the future.

I understand that an educated workforce is only part of the equation: we must also provide affordable health care, assist small business, and encourage economic development.

That’s why I joined other Spokane leaders to win approval for the new Riverpoint campus—an investment that will create jobs and opportunity.

It’s all part of my common sense plan to improve our economy and protect our way of life.

Four generations of my family have called Spokane home. I’m committed to helping our communities—and our families—reach their full potential. With the right experience, bipartisan cooperation—and home-grown Spokane values—I know we can get the job done.

Thank you for your support.

Accentuate the Positive … As a Spokane School Board member for 6 years, including one year as president, as well as serving on numerous local, state and national boards and committees, I am aware of the need for positive leadership and increased accountability in the state legislature. This involves developing family living-wage jobs, funding quality education at necessary levels and providing improved health care. Being a counselor, I understand the importance of being heard. I believe, "Quality representation is the most important contribution I can give the citizens of the 6th district. I would appreciate your vote."

Hello, my name is John Serben. I am a native of Spokane. I am running because I want to help restore promise and opportunity to Spokane.

My focus will be on tort reform, privatization of the State Worker’s Compensation system, incentives to attract new business, retain and expand existing business, reducing mandates in healthcare and sufficient funding of education.

I want to work to reverse government actions that are sending our State and local economies in the wrong direction. I know I can spur positive change for Washington and the 6th district of Spokane and represent you proudly in Olympia.
