Certification Authority Licensing - Suitable Guarantee

A suitable guarantee must be provided along with the certification authority license application. The guarantee may be made in the form of a surety bond issued by a licensed insurer, or an irrevocable letter of credit issued by a financial institution.

The amount of the guarantee must be at least $50,000, and state that it is issued for the purpose of filing an application under the Washington Electronic Authentication Act.

Other requirements regarding the suitable guarantee are found in the Washington Administrative Code at section 434-180-240.

Contact information for the issuer must be included on the certification authority application, as is published as part of the certification authority’s disclosure record.
