Purpose Description The International Union of Police Organizations was formed for the following purposes: To organize all law enforcement officers; To encourage the information of local unions, regional or state councils and foreign affiliations; To secure just compensation for their services and equitable settlement of their grievances; To increase the members' skill and efficiency; To promote harmony between its members and their employers; To encourage improved methods of law enforcement, labor relations and labor/management cooperation, and To cultivate friendship and fellowship among its members. How Contributions will be used: Proceeds from the IUPA fund raising efforts are deposited in our general treasury to assist in carrying out the core activities of the overall union effort that includes providing labor relations training, legal counsel, contract negotiation support, and various professional seminars such as retirement benefits, changing climate in today law enforcement, and other traditional law enforcement subjects. In addition, funds collected help amortize the cost of publishing the IUPA's Police Union and The Law, a source of useful and reliable information on all of the issues which police organization must deal; Police Union News, a quarterly publication covering technical and professional articles of interest to the professional law enforcement officer; and the IUPA Benfits Program booklet for the use of members. In addition, the IUPA makes donations to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund. Also, the IUPA scholarship program provides ten (10)$1,000.00 scholarships to member's families at an accredited college studying criminal justice, labor relations and/or related fields.
