Other Training Opportunities

Would you like us to come to you?

The Charities and Nonprofit Education Program is happy to make presentations to individual organizations and groups. We will present on registration and renewal requirements with the Secretary of State, forming and maintaining a new nonprofit, and when it is required to register as a charity. We will also give a tour of the many educational resources available on our website and through our workshops. If you would like to schedule a presentation to your group or conference, or talk to us about bringing a workshop to your area, please contact Teresa Glidden, Education and Outreach Coordinator at 360-725-0373.

IRS Tax Exempt Status Information

Are you applying for 501 (C) tax exempt status with the IRS? If you are, your Articles of Incorporation must contain a specific purpose clause and a dissolution of assets provision. Suggested language is available at http://www.irs.gov/Charities-&-Non-Profits/Suggested-Language-for-Corporations-and-Associations-(per-Publication-557) . Other valuable information on 501(c) qualification is also available at http://www.irs.gov/Filing/Charities-&-Non-Profits.

The IRS has many helpful educational resources (webinars, online training and publications) for charities and nonprofits.  Here are some that we feel may be especially helpful:
