Workshop 1: The Basics of Historical Research

Emily Venemon - Archives Expert

A practical overview for students, teachers, local heritage volunteers and family researchers

The Basics of Historical Research is for anyone interested in exploring the past! You will get practical advice and learn the steps to gather info you need to investigate and interpret any historical topic.

Workshop 2: Family: Records & Sources

Dr. Jewell Lorenz Dunn - Genealogy Specialist

A practical overview for genealogists, historians and other family researchers

We will talk about the importance of using more than just birth, marriage and death records to tell a story. We'll cover the importance of the FAN principle, researching the whole family and not just your straight/direct line. Context is everything, letting the records tell a story of the person or family you are researching.
